A Walk In Elk Rapids

When you buy a new home, you're welcomed into a new community. New faces, new places, new schools, it's can be overwhelming and even just a little scary.

Luckily, villages like Elk Rapids are thriving thanks to an inclusive, friendly and small-town atmosphere that's sure to make your new home feel exactly like home in no time at all. Elk Rapids still gives its residents easy access to nightlife, events and a thriving shopping epicenter in Traverse City, but villagers can always tuck away to the comfort of their own community. World class restaurants, a beautiful downtown and the constant sounds and smells of Lake Michigan make Elk Rapids a joy, all year round.

One of our absolute favorite walks is the stretch of downtown that makes Elk Rapids feel so inviting. Just along the lakeshore, Veterans' Memorial Park is a quiet place to start your day, or watch a sunset. The walk from the park north towards downtown brings you past beautiful homes, and into the heart of the village. The Historic Town Hall, Siren Hall, Harbor Cafe and, one of our favorites, Java Jones, serve as landmarks for tourists and bastions of pleasure for locals.

More and more people come to us stressing accessibility, walkability and a small-town feel. Whether raising a family, retiring, or simply looking for a change, the intimacy of a village like Elk Rapids offers more connections, more quiet, and an altogether more relaxing environment to live in.

Perhaps the biggest treat is a short bike ride or car trip way from the water and along Elk Lake to the doors of Pearl's New Orleans Kitchen. It's certainly worth stopping to watch the marina before leaving downtown. Especially at the height of summer, the waterways are packed with all sorts of crafts stopped to take in the village.

Elk Rapids is a charming and idyllic place to call home. The next time you're in town, stop by our offices on River Street, and let us help you find just where you'll call home in the best kept secret in the Midwest.
