Local Events, Local Charm: Suds'n'Snow Microbrew Festival

Part of living here is really living here! East of Traverse City, there's a massive forest and once a year, as winter blinks into spring, there's one heck of a party out there!

Residents on the east side know about Suds'n'Snow, the original microbrew festival Up North, and still one that's absolutely unique. Located under the snow-laden trees of Timber Ridge Resort, some of the best microbreweries in the region all converge for a farewell to winter. Some years, it takes snowshoes or skies to walk the 1.5 miles of trail back to the party, but it's well worth it. Nestled out in nature is a festival with live music, igloos, ice bars and some of the friendliest folks around.

When you live here, you don't have to go far from fun. Just as neat, you don't have to go far for the best breweries, and they're all on hand March 4. We love catching up with Short's Brewing Co., Stormcloud Brewing, Jolly Pumpkin and all the folks with production and pubs right here. We've even worked with families involved with the breweries, which do so much to offer jobs and a bit of spice to life in Northern Michigan.

Tickets are available, and there's still time to get involved. If you do miss out, don't miss out on a chance to enjoy the woods this week. With winter looking shaking, get out there and find a seasonal activity you love. Who knows, getting something you're passionate about on your mind might make those first few snowfalls next year a bit more exciting!

We always love celebrating the things that make Up North so special. Want to know more? Let us show you the places, activities and people that make this the best place to live, and we'll even find you a place to call home.
